I have had great success conducting lessons based on the natural flow and chemistry between myself and my student. I usually begin with general questions about what my student has done in the previous week, e.g., and then get more specific from there. I prepare new words for my students try in context. Also, I ask my students to keep a log of interesting English that relates to their personal experience; and then we discuss it further. I teach grammar incidentally, and focus more on helping my students' expression be understood. I am a believer in keeping English fun and engaging, as that is the quickest way to retain the language.
